The Jido Chrome extension
Last updated 2026-10-15 · applies to the Jido extension for Chrome, version 1.2.0 and laterShort version. The extension does one job: it posts the Reddit replies you approved and queued in Jido, from your own Chrome, with the Reddit login that Chrome already has. To do that it reads your Reddit username and, before each post, your recent Reddit comments, so it never comments twice on a thread. It tells Jido what happened (the link to the comment), plus your Reddit username, its status and your time zone. It sends nothing to anyone else. It has no analytics, no ads and no third-party code, and nobody sells your data.
What the extension does
You approve a reply in the Jido console and choose “Approve & post”. About once a minute, while Chrome runs, the extension asks Jido for the next queued reply. When Jido hands one over, the extension opens that thread on old.reddit.com in a background tab, posts the reply as a top-level comment, closes the tab and reports the result back to Jido. Jido decides the pace. The extension does nothing until you pair it with your Jido workspace using a device token.
What it reads
- Your Reddit username, from
old.reddit.com/api/me.json, to show “Connected as u/NAME” and to post as you. The same answer holds Reddit’s session key (the “modhash”), which Reddit requires for posting. The extension uses that key on the Reddit page for the one post and never stores it or sends it to Jido. - The thread it is about to post on: whether it is locked, archived or removed, and which subreddit it is in.
- Your last 100 Reddit comments, from
old.reddit.com/user/NAME/comments.json, only to check whether you already commented on that thread. If you did, the link to that one comment goes to Jido and nothing new is posted. Nothing else from the list is kept or sent. - The new comment, once, without your login, eight seconds after posting, to check whether logged-out readers can see it (Reddit’s spam filter sometimes hides new comments).
- Only the tabs it opens. It opens one background tab on
old.reddit.comper post (or a minimized window when Chrome has none open), checks that tab’s address and loading state, and closes it. It does not read your other tabs, your browsing history or your cookies. Requests to Reddit carry your Reddit login the way any Reddit page does.
What it sends, and where
It talks to two places only, which are also its only site permissions.
- The Jido API,
jido-api.urbanodx.com, run by UrbanoDX, with its device token.- About once a minute: its state (idle, waiting, posting, paused or error) and status line, your Reddit username, the extension version and your time zone name (for example
Europe/Warsaw), because Jido only posts between 9:00 and 22:00 in your time zone. - After each attempt: which reply it was, the outcome (posted, already posted, skipped, retry later or error), the comment link when there is one, whether logged-out readers can see it, a short error message when something went wrong, and any wait Reddit asked for.
- About once a minute: its state (idle, waiting, posting, paused or error) and status line, your Reddit username, the extension version and your time zone name (for example
- Reddit,
old.reddit.com: the reply text you approved, posted as a comment on that thread with your Reddit login. That is the post itself.
Nothing goes anywhere else. The extension contains all of its code; it loads no remote code, runs no analytics or tracking, and shows no ads.
What it keeps in your Chrome
In chrome.storage.local, on this computer only (it is not synced):
apiUrlandtoken: where Jido is and the device token you pasted;paused, tokenRejectedandnotBefore: your local pause, whether Jido turned the token down, and the earliest time of the next post;reddit: your Reddit username and when it was checked;status: the last state, status line, queue count and next post time Jido reported;lastResult: the last outcome, with the subreddit, the thread title and the comment link;pendingResult: a result Jido could not take yet, sent again on the next check.
In chrome.storage.session, which Chrome empties when it closes: busyUntil (a three-minute lock so two checks never overlap) and openTab (the tab it opened, so it can close it).
All of it stays until you uninstall the extension, which deletes it.
What Jido keeps, and who sees it
- The device record: the name you gave this Chrome, when it was last seen, its state and status line, your Reddit username, the extension version, your time zone, the last four characters of the token and a one-way hash of the token. Jido never stores the token itself.
- On each reply: whether and when it was posted, the comment link, whether logged-out readers could see it, and the last error.
- Who sees it: the members of your Jido workspace (owners and admins manage devices; viewers see their status) and UrbanoDX, which runs Jido, for support and security. It is not sold, not shared for advertising, and not used for anything other than posting your approved replies and showing you how that went.
- How long: as long as your workspace exists. Removing a device revokes its token at once; its record stays in the workspace’s history until the workspace is deleted or you ask us to delete it. Deleting the workspace deletes its devices and its replies.
- Like any website, the Jido API sees the IP address a request comes from. Server logs may hold it briefly for security and capacity; it is not stored on the device record. Traffic passes through Cloudflare.
How to remove it
- Uninstall the extension in
chrome://extensions. That deletes everything it kept in Chrome. - In Jido, open the Inbox, choose Post from Chrome and Remove the device. Its token stops working at once, so nothing more can be posted with it.
- To have the device record or your workspace data deleted, write to the address below.
Children
The extension is a work tool for Jido workspaces and is not meant for children.
Changes
If the extension starts to read, send or keep anything else, this page changes first and the date at the top moves.
